The Panzi Hospital provides holistic aid to survivors of sexual violence in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. For the past 20 years, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege and his team have created a safe healing space that supports the physical healing and emotional recovery of survivors of sexual violence. The survivors' healing journey continues at the Maison Dorcas aftercare centre, where young girls, women, and their dependent children receive housing, meals and ongoing therapeutic care. The centre also provides literacy and math classes, job skills training, and micro-grants to support the women in launching micro-businesses, and ultimately rebuild their livelihoods.
